Pfizer to pay $60 million for alleged kick back incentives made to health care providers

(www.justice.gov) Washington – Pfizer has reached an agreement to pay $60 million to settle for  improper payments made to doctors by its subsidiary, Biohaven Pharma, intended to increase the sales of Nurtec ODT, a migraine medication. 

Allegedly, incentives were given to healthcare providers to prescribe the migraine medication.

The Department of Justice revealed that before Pfizer acquired Biohaven, the subsidiary allegedly facilitated the submission of fraudulent claims to Medicare and other federal health care programs by incentivizing healthcare providers with kickbacks to prescribe their product.

Pfizer has not admitted to any wrongdoing during the lawsuit
