Sanjeev Sanyal is an advisor to Prime Minister Modi. He is also a member of the Economic Advisory Council. Sanjeev criticized USAID and declared it to be “the biggest scam in human history.”

In a post on social media, Sanyal challenged the transparency of these expenditures. He questioned who actually benefitted from the proposed $21 million designated for increasing voter turnout in India and the $29 million for political stability in Bangladesh, emphasizing the lack of clarity surrounding these funds.
Sanjeev Sanyal said, “Would love to find out who received the US$21mn spent to improve “voter turnout in India” on X Social Media.
Sanyal also made it clear on X, that he is not questioning DOGE, but questioning USAID :

So what happened to the alleged money? Right now, there are no clear answers.
The Trump administration has taken steps of halting a $21 million initiative funded by U.S. taxpayers. This funding cut was announced by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency helmed by Elon Musk.
The decision has sparked discussion among members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who labeled the funding as “external interference” in India’s electoral affairs.
This announcement has elicited a sharp response from BJP leader Amit Malviya, who noted that the allocation of $21 million for voter turnout appears to be a clear instance of foreign interference in India’s democracy. They also have mentioned Soros as a player involved in their elections, to what extent is not clear.
So USAID allegedly funded “voter turnout” improvements in Indiana, but the money was never actually seen by officials in India. So where did the $21 million go?
This information will be updated as events unfold.
