On Monday January 28th, the acting Attorney General, James McHenry, took steps to dismiss several officials within the Justice Department who were involved in the federal criminal investigations concerning President Trump, as confirmed by two sources from the department.
In letters of termination addressed to over a dozen employees, McHenry expressed doubt about their ability to act faithfully in their roles.
The Justice Department reported the dismissal of these employees who were part of the criminal prosecutions associated with Donald Trump, indicating a swift move towards accountability.
At that moment, it remains uncertain which specific prosecutors were fired or how many of those who participated in the probes, or who is employed at the department following his inauguration last week.
A correspondent on a CNN broadcast remarked that this development aligns closely with Trump’s statements during his campaign, where he indicated a desire to remove Jack Smith. No one knows if Jack Smith was part of the group that was fired.
Conversations with various officials suggested that those affiliated with Smith’s office should anticipate being let go.
An atmosphere of distrust exists between the president’s team and anyone linked with the special counsel’s office, making the expected actions less surprising.
Furthermore, CNN highlighted the president’s intention to reshape the Justice Department to align with his own perspectives, emphasizing his need for loyal supporters in key positions. (www.rev.com)
