Amid increasing calls for his resignation, Mayor Eric Adams appeared on Fox News. He was alongside Tom Homan, who is known as Trump’s “border czar.”
During his segment on “Fox and Friends,” Adams seemed to endorse aspects of Donald Trump’s policies. He particularly focused on immigration enforcement. Adams expressed a willingness to collaborate with ICE for individuals committing crimes.

On Friday morning, Adams joined Tom Homan, the Trump administration’s border czar, on “Fox & Friends.” He expressed his intention to work alongside Trump’s immigration enforcement strategies. When asked if New York Gov. Kathy Hochul might seek to remove him from office, he deflected the question.

Last year, Adams faced indictment on bribery and fraud charges. These charges stemmed from a federal investigation. It was alleged that his campaign illegally collaborated with affluent foreign business figures. They supposedly worked with Turkish officials to gather donations.

A growing number of New York lawmakers are advocating for Adams to step down, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from the Bronx and Queens, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, and Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani from Queens.

Adams’ Fox News appearance followed the resignation of top federal prosecutor Danielle Sassoon. Five other senior Justice Department officials also resigned. They have raised concerns over an order to dismiss federal corruption charges against him.

In a turn of events, at least seven federal prosecutors chose to resign. They resigned instead of following an order to dismiss corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams. This significant departure includes seasoned attorneys known for their conservative backgrounds.

On Thursday, Danielle Sassoon, who was serving as the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced her resignation. This happened shortly after a senior official from the Justice Department instructed her to abandon the case against the mayor.

That same day, acting deputy U.S. Attorney General Emil Bove suspended Sassoon. He also suspended other prosecutors involved in the Adams case with pay. He initiated an investigation to assess their employment status.

Before his current role, Bove had represented Donald Trump during criminal proceedings. He recently directed Sassoon, a Republican and the interim U.S. attorney, to drop the charges related to Adams.

Instead of complying, she opted to resign, joined by five other high-ranking officials at the Justice Department in Washington. This decision was made just a day after she reached out to Trump’s newly appointed attorney general, Pam Bondi.

Sassoon, a Republican, claimed that the Justice Department was involved in “quid pro quo” actions. She asserted her belief in Adams’ guilt regarding the charges leveled against him. These charges include bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud.

Ocasio-Cortez criticized Adams. She suggested that he was jeopardizing New Yorkers’ safety to evade these charges. Delgado voiced the need for a leader accountable to the people. He urged Adams to resign.
Mamdani, currently running against Adams for mayor, called upon Governor Kathy Hochul to use her authority to facilitate his removal.

Hochul remarked on the seriousness of the allegations during a recent interview, expressing her concern over the implications.
