Clinton and Soros Receive the Prestigious Medal of Freedom Award.

Social media has responded with some outrage on Saturday morning following the announcement that President Biden plans to present the Presidential Medal of Freedom to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and billionaire George Soros.

(Fox News) This award represents the highest civilian honor in the United States and recognizes individuals whose contributions significantly impact the country’s values, prosperity, or security, as well as world peace and crucial societal efforts, according to a statement from the White House. The awards were handed to Hilary Clinton and Soros, as well as 17 others by Joe Biden on Saturday.

Joe Biden on Saturday. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, spearheaded the backlash, criticizing the decision to honor Soros as “a travesty.” He shared a clip from his appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, expressing his belief that Soros has a disdain for humanity.

Many online voices echoed this sentiment. Commentator Blake Habyan lamented that the decision reflected a comedic farce, declaring it a joke to honor individuals whose actions contradict the essence of the award. Another user, Natalie F. Danelishen, remarked that the news seemed almost too absurd to be true, describing both honorees as among the worst people in the world.

The White House praised Clinton for her achievements during her public service career. She was the first female senator from New York and made history as the first First Lady to hold an elected office. She became the first woman to receive a major party nomination for president in the United States, ultimately losing to Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

Despite her accomplishments, her tenure as Secretary of State faced scrutiny, especially regarding her management of the Libyan conflict and the 2012 Benghazi attack, which resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Stevens. Additionally, Clinton’s use of a private email server for official communications raised concerns; while the FBI concluded she mishandled classified information, no charges were brought against her.

Soros, a donor to progressive causes, oversees numerous non-profit organizations, including the Open Society Foundations, which have supported various Democratic candidates who share his vision. Since 1984, he has reportedly donated over $32 billion to Democratic initiatives.

The White House and Biden said that this award highlights Soros’s global philanthropic work in promoting democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.

Critics, particularly from conservative circles, have condemned Soros for his financial backing of Democratic, progressive district attorneys, arguing that this support has contributed to rising crime rates in Democratic-led cities.

Americans receiving the award are said to be exemplary figures who have positively influenced both the nation and the world. In total, 19 individuals were honored with the Medal of Freedom, including Denzel Washington, Michael J. Fox, Ralph Lauren, Anna Whitmor, Bill Nye “the science guy” and Bono.
