A note discovered on a phone within the Tesla Cybertruck that erupted outside the Las Vegas International Trump Hotel on New Year’s Day stated, “This was not a terrorist attack, it was a wake-up call,” according to police reports.

During a press briefing on Friday, law enforcement officials shared more details about the circumstances surrounding Matthew Livelsberger, 37, and his actions leading to the explosion. The coroner’s office has determined that Livelsberger suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head shortly before the blast occurred.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Livelsberger’s identity through various means, including comparisons of tattoos. He mentioned, “Identification of certain tattoos was only possible after we removed some of his body from the vehicle.

“Furthermore, Livelsberger’s dental records were provided by the U.S. Department of Defense, aiding the coroner’s office in establishing his identity. His family also submitted DNA samples for confirmation, which matched the body located at the scene.

Evidence included a surveillance image of Livelsberger in a distinctive jacket while in Colorado, which was subsequently aligned with footage from Las Vegas.

Investigators tracked his journey using video from public spaces, phone records, financial transactions, and Tesla charging station logs, confirming he was the sole driver throughout the trip.FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans noted the premeditation of Livelsberger’s actions, stating he had clearly planned and prepared extensively for this event alone.
