Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson split after 10 years of marriage

Recently, Jessica Simpson announced her separation from NFL star Eric Johnson after ten years of marriage, describing the situation as “painful.”

The 44-year-old singer revealed that she and 45-year-old Eric had been living apart for some time but are dedicated to co-parenting their three children: 12-year-old Maxwell, 11-year-old Ace, and five-year-old Birdie.

Jessica has had her share of high-profile relationships, including her first marriage to Nick Lachey, a brief involvement with Johnny Knoxville, and a romantic link with a successful musician John Mayer. With the news of her split making headlines, The Mirror revisits the singer’s notable romantic history.

The signs of trouble in Jessica and Eric’s marriage became apparent well before their official announcement. Last November, she sparked speculation when she shared images on social media wearing a stunning white lace dress and a stylish black fur coat, notably without her wedding ring.

On January 14, Jessica confirmed the separation, emphasizing the importance of their children: they come first, and both parents are focused on what’s best for them. She expressed gratitude for the love and support they have received and requested privacy as they navigate this transition as a family.

As for Jessica’s past relationships, there was speculation in 2004 regarding a potential romance with Adam Levine of Maroon 5. This came after her highly publicized marriage to Nick Lachey, which began in 2002. The couple became famous through their reality show, “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” airing from 2003 to 2005, offering fans a glimpse into their dynamic.

Unfortunately, their marriage lasted just four years before ending in divorce. Jessica later remarked that intense public scrutiny and her own insecurities contributed to the strains in their relationship. In her memoir, she reflected on her youth during their marriage and the toll that attention took on her.(Mirror)

Less than a year after their split, Nick found love with his current wife Vanessa Lachey. In her memoir, Jessica conveyed her hurt over his quick rebound, expressing feelings of  betrayal.

In November 2007, the singer began dating NFL quarterback Tony Romo. The public nature of their relationship led to criticism, suggesting she impacted his performance on the field. Ultimately, they parted ways in 2009.

Jessica entered a relationship with John Mayer in 2006, which quickly became serious. Mayer once compared loving Jessica to being addicted, illustrating their passionate connection. Yet, in her memoir “Open Book,” she revealed that their romance was far more complicated than it appeared; they broke up multiple times despite their chemistry.

Another  chapter in Jessica’s love life involves Johnny Knoxville, with whom she shared an “emotional affair” after they worked together on the 2005 film “Dukes of Hazzard.” Jessica described a unique bond where they could discuss deep feelings without judgment, highlighting how supportive he had been during that time.

Through the ups and downs of her relationships, Jessica Simpson’s experiences reflect the complexities of love and the challenges of maintaining a personal life under the microscope of fame.
