According to reports from court TV, on Friday, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense attorney has announced he can no longer represent Diddy. A motion to withdraw from the case was filed by Anthony Ricco in court on Thursday, though he provided no explanation for his decision.
Ricco, part of a six-member defense team for Combs, stated in the Manhattan federal court documentation, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”
Currently, Combs is incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, facing serious charges including racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. The 55-year-old is also battling over 100 civil lawsuits alongside one criminal charge.
Allegations against Diddy include that he has assaulted women in various ways, such as hitting, dragging, and throwing objects at them.
An incident reportedly occurred in March 2016 at a Los Angeles hotel, where Combs was captured on video kicking and dragging a woman as she attempted to leave. When hotel security intervened, he allegedly tried to bribe the staff member for their silence, according to a lawsuit against Diddy. Link here for full court document.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Diddy maintains a plea of not guilty.
