
During a gathering at a Canadian business and labor leaders meeting, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was recorded on microphone discussing the implications of President Trump’s comments about potentially making Canada the 51st state.
He expressed that Trump was specifically interested in obtaining Canada’s abundant critical mineral resources.
These remarks came after Trudeau continued speaking after media members had exited, not realizing his comments were still being transmitted through a speaker.
Trudeau talked about is belief that the Trump administration is aware of Canada’s mineral wealth and this may explain the recurring discussions about Canada becoming part United States.
The Prime Minister said that the intention behind these notions is to gain easier access to Canada’s resources.
The meeting took place in Toronto on a Friday, just weeks before Trudeau anticipates leaving his position as Prime Minister of Canada.
Trudeau’s comments addressed Trump’s desire to integrate Canada with the U.S.
