Drug Tunnel Found at the U.S. – Mexico Border.

News Week, Fox and other major news outlets are reporting that Mexican authorities and a deployed drone surrounding the border, has uncovered a drug tunnel beneath the U.S.-Mexico border, according to official reports.

The tunnel is believed to have been used by the Sinaloa drug cartels for illegal immigration, drugs and human smuggling.

Mexican officials believe they have successfully halted the progress of a new drug tunnel that would lead into Arizona.

(Newsweek) This tunnel’s entrance is located in San Luis Rio Colorado, near Yuma, and the State Public Security Secretariat of Sonora shared tunnel images on Facebook.

The discovery resulted from a collaborative operation involving U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where agents utilized a drone to locate the tunnel just south of the existing border wall.

Authorities suspect that this tunnel, still in its nascent stages, is a “narco tunnel” intended for the illicit movement of drugs or people across the border barrier.

According to the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) 2024 drug threat assessment, the Sinaloa drug cartel frequently employs such tunnels throughout the Southwest to facilitate the smuggling of narcotics and individuals.

Some of these tunnels are remarkably sophisticated, featuring electricity and ventilation systems.

Trump has promised to tackle crime syndicates, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration as part of his mass deportation strategy.

Although the construction of a border wall has been a central theme in immigration discussions, the existence of tunnels like the one found in San Luis Rio Colorado,

Mexico, shows the adaptability of traffickers in circumventing such barriers.

This discovery marks the third tunnel identified in the area south of Yuma, Arizona, this year, as reported by Mexican officials.

In a Facebook announcement, the State Public Secretary Secretariat of Sonora stated that, “A drone-enabled joint operation between the Security Secretariat and Customs and Border Protection led to the location of this tunnel in San Luis Rio Colorado.” The above picture was also posted by the Public State Secretary of Sonora.

In statements made in 2023, Donald Trump emphasized, “The drug cartels are waging war on America—and it’s now time for America to wage war on the cartels. The impact of the drug cartels, along with their allies in the Biden administration, has been devastating. When I return to the White House, those involved in drug trafficking will find no peace.”

Following this tunnel’s discovery, authorities are likely to intensify investigations and monitoring efforts to trace its origins and any links to organized crime.
