
Live updates on the tragic D.C. plane crash reveal that 28 bodies have been recovered, and officials anticipate no survivors after an American Airlines flight collided with a military helicopter.
The flight, carrying 60 passengers along with four crew members, collided with the helicopter near Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening, ultimately crashing into the Potomac River. Some of the passengers were part of the Boston and Russian ice skating teams, as the video broadcast below states.
Three army soldiers were inside the Black Hawk jet.
Recovery efforts are underway.
By Thursday morning, Washington’s Fire and EMS, confirmed that 28 bodies were retrieved from the wreckage—27 from the passenger jet and one from the helicopter, according to several news outlet t.v. broadcasts.
Determining the cause of the collision remains a challenge. According to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, there was no indication of a communication breakdown, and both aircraft were operating within standard flight patterns at the time of the accident.
