ICE initiating illegal migrant deportations; Democrat N.Y.C Mayor Adams collaborates with the agency
(Fox News) Tom Homan, appointed as the border “czar,” announced on a news broadcast that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement program (ICE) is starting procedures for certain illegal migrants.
He stated that ICE teams are now actively deployed, aligning efforts to prioritize threats to public safety as they compile their target list.
Recently, President Trump declared a national emergency concerning the border and implemented several executive orders aimed at combating illegal immigration.
Trump’s actions also included designating international criminal gang organizations such as MS-13 and the notorious Tren de Aragua as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs). This classification enables the government to take targeted measures against these groups.
Moreover, Trump mandated the reinstatement of the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), commonly referred to as the Remain-in-Mexico policy, which had been terminated by the Biden administration. This policy requires asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while their claims are processed.
In New York City, Mayor Eric Adams reported that his administration has been working alongside ICE to address the deportation of undocumented migrants involved in criminal activities. Even though New York city maintains sanctuary laws, Adams affirmed that violent offenders would still face federal intervention.
Adams clarified that there is ample opportunity for collaboration with federal agencies, indicating the existence of task forces focused on addressing criminality. He emphasized the importance of tackling violent crime, a stance he has consistently maintained.
The surge of over 225,000 illegal immigrants arriving in New York City since 2022 under the Biden administration has led to a significant rise in crimes associated with migrants, coinciding with the troubling influence of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua.
During the recent inauguration, Trump reiterated his commitment to halting illegal immigration, vowing to deport “millions and millions of criminal aliens back to their countries.”
Mayor Adams also underscored that the NYPD remains unrestricted in its efforts to collaborate with ICE on deportation activities, asserting that coordination with various task forces targeting criminal behavior is ongoing.
